The Memorial Building
Rock Port and Atchison County are proud of their past which includes those who have served to protect us. Local citizens raised money to construct this building in the early 1900s. For years it has not only honored service, but has provided a structure to be used for the good of the community. It's used for a gathering place for weddings, young children's activities, aerobics, charity events and more.
The Walk of Honor is the modern contribution to the ongoing memorial to those who serve our country. Nestled right next to the Atchison County Memorial Building is an area the citizens have contributed to build a beautiful, quiet, peaceful park. You may purchase a "brick" to honor loved ones who have served or anyone you want to honor. Funds also go to the revitalization efforts for the Memorial Building.
